About the Owner: Phillip Ellis
The owner and founder of Atchafalaya Arms is from the Krotz Springs area and grew up in a family that instilled in him both a love and respect for the outdoors. As he grew older, he followed a progression that seems as old as Cajun's cooking gumbo. At around the age of ten he learned to shoot and hunt with a shotgun. As time moved forward, so did his skills.
After graduating high school in 2008, Phillip attended the Louisiana State University at Eunice where he literally took every Criminal Justice class available. Simultaneously, he worked for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office as a jailer and corrections officer. After his time working with the Sheriff’s Office, he began working for the Krotz Springs Police Department as a patrolman. It was during his time at LSUE, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Krotz Springs Police department that Phillip developed a exemplary knowledge of the laws of Louisiana, but more specifically the laws governing the use of force and firearms.
Phillip started Atchafalaya Arms as not only a business, but also a passion. Atchafalaya Arms is a continuation of a love he found early in life. It is a love known to sportsman and firearms enthusiast around the state. It is a love of family, country, and the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven this country since its inception. We offer a wide range of services, products, and classes designed to develop the necessary skills to protect one’s family and self.
